Penetrating Sealer & Stain Protection

Marble Sealing in
Virginia & North Carolina

Professional penetrating sealers that go into the stone — not a film on top of it. Proper sealing doesn't make marble stain-proof (nothing does), but it buys you the minutes you need to wipe up wine, oil, or coffee before it becomes permanent. Applied correctly, by people who've sealed thousands of marble surfaces since 1997.

The Truth About Sealing

What Sealer Actually Does — and Doesn't Do

There's a lot of misinformation about marble sealing. Here's the honest version, the same thing we tell every client on site.

What sealer DOES

  • Slows absorption of stains. Oil, wine, coffee, and rust sit on the surface longer, giving you time to wipe them up before they soak in.
  • Makes cleaning easier. Water beads and dirt lifts off with less effort and fewer chemicals.
  • Reduces water damage. In showers and on bathroom floors, sealing limits moisture penetration and efflorescence.
  • Protects your investment. A well-maintained seal is the single biggest factor in how long a polished finish lasts.

What sealer does NOT do

  • It won't stop acid etching. Lemon, vinegar, wine, and cleaning sprays will still etch marble. Etching is chemical damage to the calcium, and no sealer prevents it.
  • It isn't permanent. Penetrating sealers break down with cleaning and traffic — typically needing reapplication every 1–2 years in kitchens and baths.
  • It won't fix existing damage. Sealing traps in scratches, etches, and stains permanently. The surface must be polished first.
  • It won't hide dullness. A topical "enhancer" can fake shine briefly, but it scuffs and peels. Real gloss comes from diamond polishing.

Sequence matters. We always polish first, then seal — sealing a damaged surface locks the damage in.

Our Sealing Service

Every Marble Surface We Seal

Different surfaces and different stone types take different sealers. We match the product to the application — a honed bathroom floor calls for something different than a polished kitchen island.

Marble Countertops & Islands

Food-safe penetrating sealer rated for direct food contact. Critical for kitchen islands where oil, wine, and citrus are daily reality.

Marble Floors

Slip-safe penetrating sealer applied evenly across large areas. Foyers, hallways, kitchens, and commercial lobbies.

Showers & Bath Suites

Water-resistant sealer formulated for constant wet environments. Limestone and marble showers are especially vulnerable without it.

Vanities & Sinks

Bathroom vanities take toothpaste, cosmetics, hair dye, and standing water. Sealed specifically for those exposures.

Fireplaces & Mantels

Marble fireplace surrounds and hearths sealed against soot, ash residue, and smoke staining.

Travertine, Limestone & More

We seal all natural calcium-based stone — travertine, limestone, and honed granite included. Different stone, different product.
